Meet Kayla Bitten (she/her)…
a public health researcher, conservationist, and maternal health advocate dedicated to the intersection of environmental justice, reproductive health, and cultural foodways. As the founder of The Postpartum Clinic, she works to ensure equitable and eco-conscious maternal and infant care, particularly in Black and underserved communities.
Her research explores water quality, endocrine disruptors, and their impact on maternal and child health, with a focus on systemic environmental injustices. She is also the host of The First Waters Podcast, where she bridges science, policy, and lived experiences to highlight the critical connections between environmental health and reproductive justice.
With over a decade of experience as a doula, lactation specialist, and advocate, she has worked at the grassroots and policy levels to advance maternal rights. She has presented at conferences, collaborated with maternal health organizations, and led initiatives that push for sustainable, culturally relevant health solutions.
Through her work, she aims to shift narratives, influence policy, and create sustainable change—because the health of our communities begins with the land and water that sustain us.
